How do Buddhist people apply the teachings in their lives?

 

The first teaching given by the Buddha after his enlightenment was in a place known as Deer Park in Sarnath, near Benares in northern India. The theme of this teaching is called the Four Noble Truths. The Buddha shared his first teaching with five ascetics who had previously been his companions in the forest.

 

The Four Noble Truths form a framework for the entirety of the Buddha’s subsequent teachings and are therefore key to understanding what Buddhism is about.
